Pasquia Park To Celebrate Completion of Pool Projects on Canada Day

Campers, golfers, Big Bert fans, swimmers and other visitors can help thank volunteers and celebrate the completion of a pair of Pasquia Park pool projects during the regional park’s annual Canada Day events.

Park officials and dignitaries will gather at 1:30 p.m. on Sat., July 1 at the pool to deliver remarks and participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the formal completion of upgrades to the pool house and repairs to the pool liner.

Thanks to volunteers and fund-raising efforts, the Pasquia Regional Park Authority started their $125,000 pool liner project in June 2021 and completed it in May 2022.

Construction on the separate pool house upgrade project began in October 2021 and was completed in December 2022. Work involved expanding the outdoor washrooms, replacing the pool boiler and hot water heater, installing all new doors, windows, and stall partitions, residing the exterior and painting the interior. 

The Government of Canada invested $52,200 toward the pool house project and the Government of Saskatchewan contributed $43,496. The Pasquia Regional Park Authority funded the remaining $172,000.

Our government is proud to join the Park Authority in celebrating the completion of renovations to the park’s pool house, enabling everyone to benefit from amenities that better meet their needs. Yet another great reason to spend Canada Day at Pasquia Regional Park,” said the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities.

“The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to invest more than $43,000 toward these important pool house improvements at Pasquia Regional Park, which serves residents from in and around the areas of Aylsham, Arborfield, Moose Range and Zenon Park. I’m so proud of everyone in this great part of the province who works together to continue to ensure this regional park is one of the many fantastic gems in northeast Saskatchewan. Thank you to everyone in the area for making this wonderful place shine even brighter for tourists and visitors who explore this region,” said Mr. Fred Bradshaw, MLA for Carrot River Valley, on behalf of the Honourable Don McMorris, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Government Relations.

“Thanks to funding from the Government of Canada and the Government Saskatchewan along with the dedication of volunteers and fund-raisers, the pool and related facilities have been renewed to continue to serve long-time park user in the area and new visitors for years to come,” said Neal Wasko, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Pasquia Regional Park Authority.

Located in north-east Saskatchewan in the treed and scenic Carrot River Valley, Pasquia Regional Park amenities include a nine-hole golf course, mini golf, hiking trails, a restaurant, a pool and an interpretive centre for the skeleton of 92-million-year-old "Big Bert," who is the world's most complete Terminonaris robusta crocodilian skeleton.

The Pasquia Regional Park Authority board of directors consists of representative from RMs of Arborfield and Moose Range, Towns of Carrot River and Arborfield, and Villages of Zenon Park and Aylsham.
